Vince's actions
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 2 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Vince Parker 10/16/2019 6:11 PMI am continuing to learn I can recycle more waste than what I thought I could. Definitely less stuff going out in the trash! -
Vince Parker 10/04/2019 7:54 AMEating in the cafeteria with non-disposable dishes versus take out back to the office has this additional benefits of conversation with others and providing a healthy work-life balance. -
Vince Parker 10/04/2019 7:51 AMEncouraging others is so important. I do not always make this a priority. Having a challenge to do this daily is a great reminder of the importance of people and community.-
Rebekah Lockwood 10/04/2019 9:45 AMInspire is a great tool for this. Not only can you send recognition, but one's colleagues can see that recognition on their Inspire homepage too! (You don't have to attach points to it either—I know we have a limited number to give)
