I was not able to sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. My landlord told me he was going to switch from PECO to NRG to get a better rate, but he was not planning on choosing the 100% wind power option.

Oh, we have solar on our roof now. Your landlord should put solar on their roof or your roof.

Yesterday I tried Beyond Meat brand sausage brats. Pretty darn good for a meat substitute!

A friend told me about the concept of "naked" produce shopping. That's when you don't take the store's plastic produce bags. However, if I buy a half-dozen apples I want to make sure they're not rolling off the check-out conveyor, so I plan on shepherding them in the cloth mesh bags I recently purchased.

Today I received organic cotton mesh bags in the mail that I ordered online for shopping for "naked" produce. This wil allow me to purchase fruits and veggies and forgo the plastic produce bags from the grocery store.

I took paper bags to the farmers market today and used them for my produce purchases. However, I bought pickles and olives, which the sales person put into plastic containers and then tied the containers in a plastic bag to keep the brine from leaking into my cloth shopping bag. Later I went to visit a friend and she told me to take some tomatoes from her garden. She gave me a plastic bag for the tomatoes. I will use those plastic bags again, but I cannot report that I accomplished that Challenge today.

Now that the weather is getting cooler it seems like my hybrid car runs the gasoline engine more often than it did during the summer. This is the first hybrid that I have owned and this will be the first winter driving this car. I am eager to see how the all-wheel drive handles in the snow, as my previous cars were front-wheel drive vehicles.

This morning I saw a red fox run through my yard! Love to see those guys!

I already have my portfolio dedicated to Socially Responsible Investments, but from doing research into Impact Investing I may be able to direct more toward projects that are providing proven solutions to global challenges. Morgan Stanley has an Impact Quotient application that helps investors align their investments with their impact goals. I will ask my Financial Advisor about this!

Throughout the summer I have been observing a family of deer when they would come thru my yard. There are 2 females - each has a youngster that is almost adult size now. I see them sometimes walking thru the yard and at other times lying down in the grass. I'm sure one of them ate the potted begonia I had out on the front stoop! When I was a child I remember seeing raccoons and possums in our yard, but I never saw deer roaming through the suburbs. Now they are everywhere - along with foxes, owls and woodchucks!

Today I had a dentist appointment and refused the little plastic goodie bag, but accepted the toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste. Afterward, I went grocery shopping using my cloth shopping bags and reusing a few plastic produce bags from previous purchases. I bought some Beyond Meat brand sausages for the first time to give them a taste test.
