I find being sustainable difficult in this time as if you want to support a local business you have to get takeout and get more trash or plastic. It has been a difficult decision to make.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?

It allows for people to take back control and power over the food that was taken away from them. It allows for people to become healthy and not have to rely on highly processed food or some big company to give them food grown miles away.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

Omg! I could recycle pretty much everything I use, including my clif bar wrappers to candy wrappers. It is just a shame it can cost so much I feel it also takes so much time to sort out and you have to be mindful.

I will have to look into though more because I am amazed at everything terracycle can do.

I really like the fact I can share my values with others and see what others are doing.

What most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint?

How much I could save on heating and that how living in an old house can use so much energy. I am going to be renovating the new house I am buying and plan on switching to the most energy-efficient I can.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Gabryella Pulsinelli's avatar
    Gabryella Pulsinelli 10/19/2019 6:07 PM
One of the ways I like to express is to try to find clothes that are of high quality and will last me a long time that reflects my personality. I have always enjoyed thrift shopping and finding clothes that really speak to me. I am trying to find more ways to find more creative ways to find fashion choices in a more sustainable way.

What are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?

You typically have healthier and happier people who can think more clearly than those who live in food deserts. I have access to 3 grocery stores within 2 miles and some have to get their groceries from quick stop or gas stations. I can get whatever I want whenever and some people struggle to get fresh fruit

One of the things I have been trying to do is limit my plastic which can be so hard because you do not realize it. You go to starbucks and all a sudden you have three pieces of plastic in your hand to the garbage. I nice surprise was when I was at wegmans and saw they use paper straws!

    So small victories.

How might impact investing help you better live your values?

    Gabryella Pulsinelli's avatar
    Gabryella Pulsinelli 10/18/2019 8:50 AM
I can invest in people I believe in and make money at the same time instead of blindly putting money into a 401K or IRA. I can invest in what I value instead of playing with the stock market who choose to prey on consumers and destroy the environment.

What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

I use a app called everdollar that allows me to categorize and budget everything. The past couple of months I see I am not spending money on useless things and focusing on saving and needs instead of wants.

I notice I tend to spend my money more wisely now instead of being okay I have money in my account I can spend it on this shirt.
