Nicholas's actions
High Impact Action Track
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Waste
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 30 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 20 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 2.27 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

Nicholas Carroll 10/23/2019 9:34 AMWhy can't this challenge continue for an entire month? I'm not ready to stop. Keep on going!-

Nicholas Carroll 10/22/2019 11:59 AMLast night, I finally put up the Veterans Display in City Hall. After a year of planning, reading books, thinking about Berlin, and setting the plan in motion, it has all come to this moment for everyone else to see my vision and visual history lesson. I am grateful for everyone who helped me bring this vision to reality. It was definitely a labor of love, which I was able to accomplish in the spare time between my two jobs. Now, I can reclaim some free time at home to work on personal projects, such as decluttering my house.-
Kenya Williams 10/23/2019 2:01 PMGreat display Nicholas!

Nicholas Carroll 10/21/2019 10:14 AMToday is the day! After work, my Berlin Wall tribute mural and Veterans Day profiles goes up in City Hall. I am so excited for this display, as I have spent over a year thinking about it and learning all about Berlin the past several months. I look forward to seeing how people will respond to it. Hopefully, it will be educational and thought provoking (in good ways).-
Kenya Williams 10/21/2019 1:26 PMLooking forward to your Berlin Wall tribute!

Nicholas Carroll 10/20/2019 8:19 PMThis weekend was busy with my Moda work and last minute prep for the Berlin Wall Veterans display. It was nice that a lady from church was willing to have lunch with me at the Spaghetti Factory in SW Waterfront. She had never been there before so she was very impressed. Its one of my favorite restaurants...and the food is so good. -
Nicholas Carroll 10/19/2019 11:49 PMI am grateful to finally see the legendary Ice Cube in concert. What what!! -
Nicholas Carroll 10/18/2019 9:33 AMAs I wrap up the preparation work for this year's Veteran's Display in City Hall, I am grateful for the artist I commissioned for the mural that she has completed it early and will deliver today. I look forward to seeing her artistic interpretation of the Berlin Wall and having it displayed in City Hall next week. -
Nicholas Carroll 10/17/2019 6:18 AMI have been enjoying researching Berlin as I prepare this year's Veterans Display in City Hall. I am grateful that the Berlin Wall mural I had commission is completed and I cannot wait to see it. -
Nicholas Carroll 10/16/2019 8:55 AMLast night had too many things going on, so I could only choose one. I decided to attend the demonstration downtown of the hawks going after the crows. There was an impressive sized crowd to watch and it was very cool to see. The city uses three hawks to scare the crows into moving elsewhere. The crows were not happy about it, but the crowd was impressed. -
Nicholas Carroll 10/15/2019 11:24 AMAfter working last night's heavy metal concert where I did not like the music at all, it got me thinking about what it is about music that some people love it while it is just horrific noise to someone else. Music tastes are so personal. After last night, I needed to bask myself in the music I prefer and I needed a massive dose of Enya's music to wash out the noise residue of the heavy metal music still ringing in my ears.-
Mary Hartshorn 10/15/2019 3:07 PMOhhh noooo not Enya!!!! Everyone's music tastes are VERY different :P

Nicholas Carroll 10/14/2019 10:14 AMI am grateful that I spent Friday evening looking at the photo display of life in East Germany, because it was gone on Monday when I arrived for work. Not sure why it was not up longer, but I am glad that I made the time to really take in the exhibit and read every word and look at every photo.
