    Simplicity Support a Sharing Economy
What are some of the barriers to sharing economies? What is your plan for supporting or creating one in your community?

I am guessing that a barrier to sharing economies is finding people who want to share what you do and the way you do. For me everything just got so much easier. My new housemates are very creative and environmentally-conscious individuals who are constantly looking for ways to avoid the relentless subjugation of capitalism. I'm in heaven! Cause my most effective strategy and plan seems to be to continue hanging out with them!

How might impact investing help you better live your values?

As I understanding it (and I am definitely still learning about "impact investing") it would help me live the value of the calculated risk being the risk worth taking. Only calculated risks are worth our hard earned dollars or labor at this stage in the game. Because the phrase "we have nothing to loose" doesn't apply when it comes to our current investment options, means of production and earthly resources. Turns out we have absolutely everything to loose in this economy.

    Waste Compost Food Waste
New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

I'm not really new to composting, but I often have to restart composting that I will use for my gardening. In Portland, its easy to compost because the City has composting service which is spectacular. I love composting when I have it set up and really running on a solid group of worms. It's amazing to see how fast they convert old food into rich soil. My plan is to outfit my property with an amazing set of garden beds to grow food and medicine (with the help of my housemates).

How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

    Dianne Riley's avatar
    Dianne Riley 10/13/2019 9:48 PM
I think I accumulate things mostly from not knowing how to shop for the things I actually need. I need better shopping skills. But I am learning from my new housemates. They have great advice for how to get / find quality products, how to be thoughtful and creative, and how to maintain the things we get. They are brilliant.

I just spent 30+ minutes reading about Impact Investing. I started out doing it just as an EcoChallenge curiosity, but ended up feeling like it was a possible lead into steps forward on my career path and life's work. Time well spent and a huge return on a 30 minute investment of time!
