Brittany's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 3 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Brittany Nichols 10/15/2019 5:56 PMSo, I talked to my mom today and she shared some awesome news with me! My mom has noticed and asked about my low waste choices and started making changes in her life too! And yesterday HER mother in law got to talking with my mom and was inspired by her and all she had learned about from me that she's no longer going to buy styrofoam products for her office and home! -
Brittany Nichols 10/12/2019 6:15 PMToday was Harvestfest and we killed it! Diverted tons of waste from the landfill today, and hopefully some folks took some lessons home. -

Brittany Nichols 10/07/2019 5:48 PMYou know, I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm feeling really good! I've been eating better since the challenge started and avoiding convenient, single serving snacks bc of the challenge. Things like chips and candy that seems to abound now that I'm avoiding them... But honestly feeling really good! So is baby Nichola 😀
Dinner tonight is mixed rice, sweet potato, homemade hummus and fried egg. -
