How might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems differently?

Rather than launching a recycling program, I am going to work on launching a composting program at my new apartment complex.  It's something I noticed we don't have and I would really like one.  Also, it would save me from having to find nearby homeowners to ask if I can use their compost bin!

Recently moved to a new neighborhood and am excited to get involved with the NA and other organizations.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Community Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Keen Independent Research Foundation conducted a recent study that highlights the disparities in the availability of city contracts and loans to businesses, and how this disparity correlates to owners as people of color. The study showed that Minority businesses enterprises (MBEs) are more likely to have difficulties in receiving loans or city contracts. In what ways can you address systemic racism like that demonstrated in this study?

This weekend I installed a low flow shower head!  Excited to save water and hopefully cut down on shower time as well.

Currently, there are some investments in my portfolio that do not align with my values.  I'm honestly not 100% sure how to change this other than using a complete social investment strategy as I now have a few index funds comprised of many companies.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

I reviewed my cleaning products this weekend and need to make some changes.  This coming weekend I plan on making my own natural cleaning products!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Do people with economic privilege have a responsibility to consume and own less? How can the concept of "reduce" be presented to those who may be struggling to have enough food, clothes, shelter?

Read an article on Friday in the Wall Street Journal about H&M developing technology to recycle used garments.  It was nice to see that a fast fashion retailer is working to curb its impact on the environment.

This one is going to be hard when it comes to books.  I really love to read and should work to rent books from the library rather than buy them from Amazon or Powell's.

I know me too- I love books- and justify supporting a local business when I buy from Powells
