Rustam's actions
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Transportation
Choose a Carbon Offset
If buying a plane ticket, I will also buy a carbon offset.
Transportation
Go by Bike
I will commute by bike 6 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 1.51 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 3 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Transportation
Advocate for Greener Vehicles
I will spend at least 190 minutes assessing the vehicles used by my company or college and advocate for a purchasing policy focused on fuel-efficient vehicles.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Work from HomeIt takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. Are you in an industry that would allow you to work from home? What are some obstacles you might find yourself facing while working from home?
Rustam Kocher 10/22/2019 9:50 PMTook a couple work from home days while my brother in law was in town. It was a nice break.-
Elizabeth Lindsey 10/23/2019 10:02 AMLiving closer to work should be a priority for businesses and employees and government.
My idea on making urban housing more affordable in these high-priced cities is to extend the property tax 3% growth cap to a housing 3% cost growth cap and create a special pool of affordable housing for local Oregonians. The property tax has saved Oregonians millions over these decades; Oregonians should give something back to their progeny.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Rustam Kocher 10/22/2019 9:49 PMThe budget cuts help. :-)
Given the choice, I always choose to do a video conference over travel.-
Elizabeth Lindsey 10/23/2019 10:04 AMA (fully-refunded) carbon tax (to Individual Climate Accounts) would be very motivating to not using fossil fuels and would help us save the money to make the needed changes that we are clever enough to thing of.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go by BikeHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Rustam Kocher 10/22/2019 9:48 PMI love biking to work, but hate the extra 90 minutes it adds to my day, and the lack of sleep on those days. I need to look into an electric bike.-
Elizabeth Lindsey 10/23/2019 10:06 AMI sure wish transit was more convenient for me -- that it came nearer to where I live. I am glad a friend took me on my first trip to get me used to the idea.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Advocate for Greener VehiclesReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Rustam Kocher 10/22/2019 9:46 PMI already own 2 BEVs, and advocate others to use EVs every single day.-
Elizabeth Lindsey 10/23/2019 10:07 AMMy neighbor stopped to tell me how the fuel-efficiency of his EV saved him so much money. That lead me to creating my own EV savings account; I save money for my future EV every month.
