Bill's actions
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.
Food
Plant an Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
High Impact Action Track
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Health
I will spend 60 minutes researching environmental justice concerns in my region, their causes, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 60 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Bill Jones 10/09/2019 4:09 PMJust installed a manually rotating composting bin in the backyard along side the raised bed vegetable gardens. A neighbor was going to throw it out. -
Bill Jones 10/02/2019 2:28 PMStill trying to figure out what Actions to set up, and when to do a "done that" selection. While we are working some of these already, this is a great reminder.-
A. E. Jones 10/02/2019 7:14 PMI completely understand. That is a reasonable struggle with this setup. The good news (and bad) is that it's all up to you!

Bill Jones 9/30/2019 9:09 AMJust trying to keep true to the promises I made to myself back on April 22, 1970 when as a high school freshman, I walked to school in support of the first Earth Day.-
Bill Jones 10/02/2019 2:30 PMThat walk was far more enjoyable than we thought it would be. We cut through about a mile of desert to shorten the walk and were rewarded with seeing coyote pups, jackrabbit bunnies, tarantulas, snakes, and lizards all on the first trip. That led to us doing it until we were able to start driving.
