Health
Reduce refined sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?
Victoria Camarena 10/04/2019 6:16 PMSometimes the less wasteful way to live requires extra effort. Instant and disposable products may be easy to come by, but they aren't always simpler! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Victoria Camarena 10/03/2019 4:22 PMI always try to use reusable vegetable bags, but I often forget them at home!-
Cassie Crawford 10/21/2019 4:23 PMI keep small reusable bags in my purse and they could be good for grabbing some veggies, too. The trick is to have the habit that those bags ALWAYS end up back in your purse.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Victoria Camarena 10/03/2019 8:40 AMThere is a misunderstanding that more protein is better in the US. Past ~30g per day and the body just converts it to sugar!-
Cassie Crawford 10/03/2019 11:23 AMWoah, I didn't know that!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Victoria Camarena 10/02/2019 8:57 AMI didn't think I was addicted to sugar, but I quit sugar about a year ago and I still have occasional cravings for it. The longer you go without sugar the less you crave it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose Clean/Renewable EnergyHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Victoria Camarena 10/02/2019 8:43 AMI can tell friends how easy it is to select clean energy options on PGE's website!
