  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

The utility company provides a statement with my energy usage comparison with that of my neighbors. I keep an eye on it to see how our consumption is a try to be below others. The comparison is not very accurate due to the size, age, types of windows and insulation etc but still a good measure to look at and be aware of our impact.

One thing I must admit, I don't look at the comparison around Christmas time. That's not time to compare the energy use, that's time to decorate our homes with lights and compete with neighbors!!!
