POWERful People Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Good Morning, Team POWERful People!  Today is the LAST day of our challenge!  Thank you for participating in this event with me!  This challenge helped make me much more aware of how I can impact our environment.  My hope is that the challenge made you more aware, also.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Track my Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

Over the past 3 weeks, I have discovered that I spend money on non-essential items, daily.  I worked and will continue to think through my purchases when I am shopping.
I do not shop much at all, but I will think through each purchase before I pay.

A little appreciation for what you have goes a long way for long term happiness.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

Families wasting $1,500/year on average is not entirely surprising when you realize a lot of families get groceries in bulk. It's difficult to estimate how much you're going to eat over a long period of time and in most cases a lot of the food goes to waste/expires. I think meal prepping with more frequent grocery shopping is a more efficient approach. By placing an emphasis on only buying what you need, you save on the amount of food that goes to waste which translates to cost savings.

On my camping trip this weekend, I shared my goals for the EcoChallenge with my friends.  I encouraged everyone with me to reduce their waste and avoid using disposable items.

Happy Monday!  How did your challenge go this past weekend?  Anyone using any new habits?  I will have to say, that tracking my spending has been very rewarding!
