Julie's actions
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Nature
Tend a Garden
I will tend to a garden each day, or work on starting one.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Nature
Plant Trees
I will plant 3 tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 1 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Create Your Own Action
Recycling Household Items
We participated in a neighborhood garage sale and were able to sell many household items that will now be reused rather than potentially going to the landfill.

Julie Hyde 10/14/2019 6:59 AMWe were able to participate in a neighborhood yard sale this past weekend. Many of our household items will now be reused rather than potentially making it to a landfill. I was able to sell some other large items through the Nextdoor site that we didn't sell at the yard sale. The rest will be donated. It was a win-win. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Julie Hyde 10/09/2019 11:36 AMI planted three Crepe Laurels this week. It will add to the curb appeal of my home and attract more pollinators when in bloom. That helps with my mental and spiritual health. -
Julie Hyde 10/03/2019 2:02 PMI joined the challenge to test how effective this site will be in getting our S Corps and other employees engaged in sustainability efforts. I'm hoping it's a great success!!
