    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I've identified another barrier to reaching my goal of always using reusable coffee mugs: the convenience of ordering ahead on the app. I was running a little late and so I nearly used the app, but I caught myself. If I don't have time to wait in line, I don't have time to go to Caribou!

High Impact Action Track Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

canvas bags instead of plastic and paper

bamboo made paper towels instead of paper based

Bring your own reusable cup instead of styrofoam or plastic when getting soda/tea.

I have reusable mugs for Caribou and Kwik Trip, but I don't always remember to bring them. My goal now is to avoid all disposable cups. That means I will need to wash my mugs and have them on hand!

    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

As I practice minimalism within my home, I continue to ask myself if the "stuff" in my house gives me joy. What I am discovering is that what finds me joy is clearing items out that I do not want. Since beginning this journey of minimalism, I'm preventing the accumulation of more items by staying out of the store and asking myself it items give me joy or not. I pass on many more items than I bring back into my home.

I have become more aware of packaging of items. Growing up there was so much more paper and glass used (and I'm not that old either). Today, the majority of items are made from plastic. I had a discussion with someone on this topic and wondered how packaging majors (UW-Stout has one) could redesign packaging to utilize less plastics. In the meantime, I do not know how I could recycle one-time use packaging items that do not fall under the traditional recycling areas (such as the packaging from chicken or a bag of carrots).
