5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Shannon Weisenberger 10/23/2019 10:36 AMFive minute showers are a great way to get your blood pumping first thing in the morning,, I wish there was an easy way to capture the water that runs before you get into the shower. In a prior challenge I used a bucket & watered my garden, but that was very cumbersome. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Shannon Weisenberger 10/23/2019 10:31 AMAt one point in my life I do feel that I was addicted to sugar. A year or so ago I worked hard to ‘kick the habit’ and I did really well, but had found more sweets creeping back in to my diet in the last few months. This challenge allowed me to return my focus to trying to reduce the sugar again. Reducing sugar in my life helps my body to feel better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Shannon Weisenberger 10/23/2019 10:27 AMI’ve found that when I write my three things I’m grateful for down on paper that it just makes me feel very happy. To the extent I could replicate this feeling for longer periods of time I believe the positive energy flow would benefit everything I do and would energize me to try to share that energy & happiness with everything/one around me.
