Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Advocate for More Food Options
Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for local and/or organic food options at work, on campus and/or in the spaces I frequent.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 6 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
High Impact Action Track
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Waste
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHigh Impact Action TrackBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Jessica Ballew 10/04/2019 5:16 AMI have switched from using the thin plastic bags the stores provide, it is far easier to bring my own canvas bags. I do not have to worry about germ sharing, or cross contamination as well as it benefiting the environment.
