  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

Seems to be a never-ending battle to stop paper catalog deliveries - soon as I update opt-outs more seem to arrive. Have put extra time into the effort as part of the EcoChallenge. Separating from paper bills has been harder than I expected - I'm from the paper age and have a mistrust of electronic storage - working on it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Dependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspires you the most?

When i go for the weekly CSA pickup, the farmer is there to talk, make suggestions about veggie selection, share recipes and share his obvious love of the land. It has created an extraordinary connection for me and made me more aware of using food wisely and of how much better fresher is!

Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

Ignoring the aroma of the freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies in the caf felt so good once I was safely through the checkout with my salad.  I am aware that I use sweets as emotional support so I'm using this challenge to be more mindful about the choices I make. 1 day down!
