Cindy's actions
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 45 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.

Cindy Gorth 10/10/2019 5:18 AMI was actually surprised it wasn't more. We have slowly over the years been going to more energy efficient items like light bulbs and went to geo thermal. It has made a huge difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Cindy Gorth 10/09/2019 6:40 AMI feel blessed to have the opportunity to be able to help teach 9-10 1st grade girls through our Girl Scout troop about taking care of the world we live in. Teaching them about leaving no trace and how it applies when not only camping but living our daily lives. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Cindy Gorth 10/02/2019 11:06 AMThe items I use the most is single serve snacks. I will start buying items that can be split into single serving, but can be reused so less goes to the landfill. Mainly for kids activities and such.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Cindy Gorth 10/02/2019 11:03 AMAs I continue to clean out what is not needed I am hoping that the daily reminder just looking around to less mess will keep me on track -
