Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or some other small improvement.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Community
Raise Money For a Nonprofit
I will raise money to support Ecochallenge.org or another nonprofit.
Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 15 minutes researching environmental justice concerns in my region, their causes, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 20 minute(s) each day.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 15 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Improve a Bus StopHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
natasha eberth 10/23/2019 3:26 PMInfrastructure changes would make the largest impact in getting people to use an alternative transportation method. Things like protected bike lanes, walking trails, designated bus lanes and express bus routes make it easier and more enjoyable for the public to use.

natasha eberth 10/22/2019 10:41 AMfun fact: Bridge City Café will let you use your own containers for most orders.

natasha eberth 10/21/2019 9:53 AMTaking public transit has really helped me accomplish my daily goal of spending time in nature by taking the walking trails to my bus stop instead of the main road. -
natasha eberth 10/18/2019 6:12 PMHave a great weekend!! Remember we don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly. Every little change helps make our planet a better place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
natasha eberth 10/18/2019 6:05 PMRather than going to a gym I try to find group activities that are fun but also give you a work out, like paddle boarding. Recently I’ve been doing different exercises while I walk the ½ mile to and from the bus daily.
