Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for local and/or organic food options at work, on campus and/or in the spaces I frequent.

Recycle Everything I Can

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

    Waste Recycle Everything I Can
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

There is a lot of good information on the city website. There's so much we can't recycle here, but I am hopeful that through programs like Terra Cycle we can recycle more. I work for the public library and I know there's things we could be doing in partnership with Terra Cycle and places to do more with things not accepted by the city. I also learned that I can recycle LDPE at any place I can drop off grocery sacks, so that's good to know!

Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this idea?

Preventing chronic illnesses begins INSIDE our bodies first. Changes in diet and lifestyle can alter our paths to chronic illness and have been shown to help treat mental illness. Yes all the way.
