It's interesting how my relationship with fast food has changed. I used to make a stop at a coffee shop several times a week. But in the last month I made the resolution to only buy coffee if I had my own reusable container and only if I desperately needed a pick-me-up and wasn't near my stash at home or work (needs v. wants). I can say I've made one coffee shop purchase in the last month. This saves me money as well as so many paper cups and plastic lids from going to the landfill. Win-win.

Attended the second of four Eco School Network trainings last night with my fellow parent volunteers. We learned how to be change agents and discussed our visions for our schools with parents from other schools. So many wonderful ideas, including a fun photo campaign that would appeal to youth. When she was implementing a nutrition curriculum once, she took photos of students in the cafeteria eating healthy foods and put them under a banner that read "Caught Eating Healthy!"

I took my kids to our favorite bubble tea shop this weekend and we brought a glass jar and stainless steel bottle for our drinks!

Tonight is the first of four trainings by the Eco School Network. I'll be learning about other schools' successful sustainability initiatives and bring ideas back to my kids' school. So many great ideas already, from simply recycling markers to exploring climate change curriculum for the teachers.

I attended the inaugural meeting of my kids' school's Sustainability Team on Monday. I'm volunteering by attending training with the Eco School Network and being the liaison for teachers to engage with the Sustainability Team.
