Today I went around and placed a roll of biodegradable dog poo bags at my apartment complex's popular poo stations. Kinda weird but i've been looking for something small to try and change so dog doo bags that eventually go away sound like a good start! Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful Portland fall day!

Yay for a good saturday morning to give us extra time to be green! Very happy I got to take advantage of enjoying nature and grocery shopping at a local market with reusable bags!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I just planted strawberry starts from another plant for next year. We will see how this goes and if I can figure out how to get a picture uploaded. Next is the herbs! But in a mini inside planter because winter is coming...

This is where the guilt for not running my lab and living in an apartment gets me and her out on a run minimum 4 times a week and 5 times a week for her with fetch at a park on my off days.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Do Nature Activities
What did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and touch?

I just moved into an apartment and have a 1 year old black lab. Needless to say because I work at 5 AM, we go for a half an hour walk in the morning every morning and then a 1-3 mile run after work depending on the day. The walk mostly helps me enjoy the outside with her every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I am lucky that I do not have children and most of the things I purchase at the grocery store when I don't have my reusable bags are such few items I can hold them in my hands. I have used my shirt or sweatshirt as a makeshift pouch looking thing instead of taking a bag while at the grocery store. Works like a charm!
