Joanne Sunshower 10/24/2019 8:24 AMRaised my awareness, kept me on track with my goals for changing behavior for personal habits as well as increasing my research, conversations, other outreach, Thank you! -
Joanne Sunshower 10/22/2019 5:44 AMI joined the challenge with our team for a learning experience: 1) as a mechanism to adopt or reinforce earth-friendly habits --supposedly 3 weeks is minimum needed for a new habit to "take"; 2) to to be able to speak from my own experienceabout the time & effort it requires, in order to encourage others to try it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Joanne Sunshower 10/22/2019 5:37 AMI tried metal water bottles, but 2 barriers--almost impossible to get really clean, even w a bottle brush, and some so wide they don't fit in the cup holder of my car.So I now use a plastic forner ice cream jar w screw-on cap--straight insides so no place for mold or slime to hide & grow. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?
Joanne Sunshower 10/21/2019 3:28 AMCreativity is necessary for practicing simplicity--because it takes original thinking & having stimulating conversations to determine alternative choices, re-orient your life, gatter the information, tools, and reinforce motivation w self-reminders in order to make new habits. Fortunately, our brains are capable of SELF-DIRECTED NEUROPLASTICITY not just when we're young, but THROUGHOUT OUR LIVES! -
Joanne Sunshower 10/21/2019 3:22 AMHere's a learning: Too many commitments today, and not good planning, so ended up eating what was available (cookies) -refined sugar at a meeting:( -
Joanne Sunshower 10/13/2019 9:08 AMEasy to share Good News about successful actions being taken, inventive progress being made every day with family, friends, political & spiritual colleagues in person, by emil & social media. Daily research online of scientific & progressive journals lifts my own hopeful spirits, scrapes doom-oriented crud off my energetic spark plugs. -
Joanne Sunshower 10/12/2019 10:17 AMChose for my challenges actions that I either have been trying but not consistently, or have been contemplating. Most difficult of refined sugar are: ice cream, chocolate (isn't that a legitimate food group?) vitamin C /cough drops. Ice cream first to go, since cold weather helps me not desire it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest food item for you to give up?
Joanne Sunshower 10/12/2019 9:47 AMAvocado Blueberries Grapefruit Winter Squash, because gues what--Greens like kale, spinach, sprouts can be grown in a greenhouse or even indoors w full spectrum lamp!
