  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

There's a lot of research out there regarding both the personal safety and environmental factors of products. Since I already switched to most natural cleaners, I focused my search on my makeup, hair and body products. What I hypothesized was true, the cheaper products were not as safe for my body or the environment. I was happy to confirm this and am willing to be more focused in my purchases going forward.

    Community Connect with a Nonprofit
What inspires you to act toward a more sustainable community?

I volunteered tonight at a local non profit who assist families with clothing, diapers and household items. Tonight I assisted families gathering winter coats, snowpants, boots, gloves and hats. I knew a few of the families from the schools and know there's a huge need in our community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If I forget my bags they're in my car. Therefore taking the cart out to my car is a good option.  There are paper bags as a last resort at grocery stores, but rarely at other stores.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

I have bought metal straws. I'd forget to bring it with me and now have it in a drawstring bag. I'm getting better at asking for no straw upon ordering.

I need to dig into my bigger challenges. It's nice there's a deadline as sometimes it's easy to put these things off (best intentions). The gratitude journal, exercise and avoiding water bottles have all been easy. I may want to put in another daily challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

I'm getting better by having reusable water bottles in various places ( car,  work,  workout bag). I try to fill them before leaving home AP I don't get stuck thirsty and not having a place to refill them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

Most of my exercise is with friends. Whether I'm taking a pilates class, going for a walk, walking to a destination or riding a bike, it's typically with a friend
