Say No to Plastic Straws

An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

Team DMS, I hope you have enjoyed this year's EcoChallenge and I hope that some of the changes you made to your lifestyle become life long habits that help support our planet!  Thank Northwest Earth Institute for making the EcoChallenge possible!

I'm excited to start the EcoChallenge tomorrow, but I'm not looking forward to getting hit by the cold water as I jump right into my 5 minute or less shower.

It's awesome to see the excitement and interest in many of the 8th grade DMS students today as they sign up and discuss possible ecochallenges for them to undertake. I'm looking forward to another Ecochallenge, thank you NORTHWEST EARTH INSTITUTE!
