Nature
Practice Gratitude for Earth
I will spend 20 minute(s) each day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and the nature surrounding me.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 5 meatless meal(s) and/or 5 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 30 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 2 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 45-minute walk outside each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Rachana Sachdev 10/23/2019 2:22 PMI have driven by a house in my neighborhood hundreds of times without noticing the flowers my neighbor planted this summer. I notice colors, shapes, people much more clearly while walking. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How do we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Rachana Sachdev 10/23/2019 2:21 PMFor me, eating begins with a sense of gratitude for the earth, the farmers, the people who transported the food, and those who cooked it. Gratitude is about being mindful of our privileges and support systems. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Rachana Sachdev 10/23/2019 2:19 PMI do not use any single-use items except frozen vegetable bags. I bought produce at the farmers market to reduce vegetable bag use. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Rachana Sachdev 10/15/2019 5:34 AMRecycling my existing closet with different accessories --adding scarves and belts from my drawers -- has become my latest way to dress. After a year's sabbatical, dressing for work has been the biggest challenge and I am trying to use my creativity to enjoy older clothes in a new way. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Rachana Sachdev 10/15/2019 5:28 AMIt's the obsession with protein and ability to control resources. Eating more meat fosters and supports an industry that uses land, water, and other resources unfairly to maximize its profits.
