Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

I currently use a 32 oz reusable water container each day.  However, staying on top of keeping it washed and available does take some work and effort.  We also stopped buying single use water bottles at home, and got everyone a nice reusable bottle.

Tommy I found that having 2-3 reusable mugs helps.  It's a small investment but we have a drawer of stainless insulated cups and mugs.

    Health More Fruits and Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

Adding additional fruits and vegetables to my diet helps me feel more full and are healthy snack alternatives.  I have an awesome strawberry patch in my garden and am going to learn how to make jam this fall.

High Impact Action Track Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I routinely use reusable shopping bags when visiting the grocery store.  I have also defaulted all of my lunch containers to reusable and we no longer keep any sandwich bags in our house.  This includes reusing yogurt or sour cream containers for leftovers or to-go meals.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I feel good that I've been able to eliminate single use disposable mugs/cups.  It wasn't a terribly hard switch once I brought a couple mugs in and left them stocked at my desk.  Now it wouldn't feel right to have coffee in something besides my to-go tumbler.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I am fortunate enough to enjoy trail running and get to see plenty of single track trails at least once a week on long-run workouts.  Aside from this, I get out hiking quite a bit both with family and friends.  The mountains are the best "gym" around.
