  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
How do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?

    K Pieper's avatar
    K Pieper 10/23/2019 3:39 PM
If the climate warms, causing existing glaciers to melt, reducing snow pack, and rain it would cause droughts. If the climate cools causing increased snow pack and rain it would cause flooding. Western Regional Climate Center wrcc.dri.edu  provides education and information on the region's current, forecasted, and historical data.

Water drainage flows to a ditch, which flows to a creek, which flows to Clackamas River, then onto Willamette River, then it merges with Columbia River and disperses in the Pacific Ocean.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    K Pieper's avatar
    K Pieper 10/22/2019 11:30 AM
We can prepare for changing water situations by maintaining and updating regional water infrastructure, as needed. In our own homes we can install low flow faucets & showerheads, capture and make use of greywater, and fix leaks. In our yards we can plant native, drought resistant plants, use mulch to retain moisture and control weeds.
