Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Scott Peters 10/03/2019 3:16 PMWe've pretty much cut out use of straws whenever possible, and have also cut down on coffee cups and try to use reusable cups at coffee shops whenever we can. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Scott Peters 9/25/2019 11:13 AMI've carried things out in my hands or pockets when I don't have reusable bag available! If we do accept a bag, we try to make sure it is reusable or return a plastic one once getting things to the car. My wife and I have started to keep reusable bags in in the back of the car instead of hoping we remember to take them to the store. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Scott Peters 9/25/2019 11:11 AMI can help encourage others to make the same switch to double-sided printing by talking about it, as well as making sure all my printing is double-sided whenever possible. It can be encouraged company-wide by having that option readily available in the printer settings as well.
