  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

Thankfully, plastic bags aren't commonly used in my area. If I forget to bring a reusable bag with me, I'll try to carry what I have in my hands or a cart, but will sometimes accept a paper bag. Spontaneous trips do come up, but usually a little bit of foresight and planning lets me avoid accepting disposable bags.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Public Transit
The US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?

They don't really surprise me, military defense spending always seems to take up a very large portion of the federal budget. I would love for education and transportation to receive more funding, I think they have a large impact on the daily lives of average citizens.

Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

The slower pace allows me to notice the small details and feel more connection to my neighborhood.
