Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 10 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 7.0 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 2 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 30 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Simplicity
Research My Investment Portfolio
I will find out what stocks and bonds are in my investment account portfolio to determine if they align with my values (e.g. environmental, social responsibility, community).
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Tyler King 10/17/2019 7:54 AMThankfully, plastic bags aren't commonly used in my area. If I forget to bring a reusable bag with me, I'll try to carry what I have in my hands or a cart, but will sometimes accept a paper bag. Spontaneous trips do come up, but usually a little bit of foresight and planning lets me avoid accepting disposable bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Public TransitThe US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?
Tyler King 10/17/2019 7:46 AMThey don't really surprise me, military defense spending always seems to take up a very large portion of the federal budget. I would love for education and transportation to receive more funding, I think they have a large impact on the daily lives of average citizens. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Tyler King 10/17/2019 7:32 AMThe slower pace allows me to notice the small details and feel more connection to my neighborhood.
