Team Anthropocene, we are almost there.  Keep up the good work!  I can almost smell the pizza!  Captain Sachie

I'm in Las Vegas at a conference.  It's very hard to avoid a bottled water here.  I did ask a waiter to take back a plastic straw at lunch yesterday. I am trying to be mindful of our environment, but Vegas has its own rules.  It takes a lot of effort to avoid plastics.  Things are more complicated for me since I'm with other people.  I'm learning great deal about the reason why critical thinking is so hard at the conference.  Captain Sachie

I'm trying to cut down on eating meat.  I had delicious cauliflower steak with spicy green salsa, last of fresh tomatoes from my garden and stir-fried mixed peppers.  Didn't miss meat a bit.  Will try to have at least one meatless dinner once a week.  This is harder than it sounds since my husband likes to cook dinner and trying to convince him to go meatless is a big thing.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

Not checking on Facebook shouldn't have to be so hard.  I am going to try not doing it for three weeks.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I spend too much on junk.  I am going to track how I spend every penny for three weeks to find the pattern of my thoughtless spending so I can be mindful of it in the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

I am a hoarder.  My office gets filled with disorganized junk.  Being aware of my problem and being mindful by taking care of a few things everyday to keep my mess under control is a huge challenge.  I am using this opportunity to develop a new habit to get my mess cleaned up.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
High Impact Action Track Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I have a reusable shopping bag in my car, but often forget to take it in.  My way of avoiding plastic shopping bag is simply carry out the items I bought.  It works fine, if I don't buy too many items.

I do the same thing. I always forget my bag so I just carry things out
