Much better day-by-day completion than the during the Plastic Challenge in July.

A fragrant day in the backyard herb garden cutting back basil for pesto before the next freeze.  Cleaned up the mint, oregano, fennel, dill, and garlic chives  Transplanted my bonsai Wisteria into a new and smaller training pot.

Spent the morning in the Cottonwood Gallery collecting phenology data for our Nature's Notebook citizen-scientist project.  The cottonwoods are changing color and should improve through the week.  On Friday we hope to get some aerial video taken with a drone flying through the canopy.

Went up to Corkin's Lodge in the shadow of the magnificent Brazos Cliffs for my nephew's wedding.  Fortunately, the strong winds bracketed the ceremony and Saturday was perfect for the couple.

Traveling today up to the Brazos for my nephew's wedding.  Might be a tad breezy, but the cliffs there are a dramatic backdrop for appreciating nature.

Took some time this morning to go through some of the other categories of actions and updating my "I already did this" checklist.

Gave a tour of the Botanic Garden to a group of Horticulture Volunteer candidates.  A perfect day to stroll through the garden.  I'm always impressed with the Hort. Volunteers; they work so hard to make the Botanic Garden the beautiful place that it is.  Without them, we docents wouldn't have the garden for our educational efforts.

Another picture-perfect fall day.  Excellent for tai chi and feeding the neighbor's cat on the porch.  Fall blooming plants are hanging in there.

A little breezy, but cool and sunny -- a perfect day to work in the backyard garden.  Expecting the first frost of the season tonight.  Brought some tender tropicals inside the house.  Moved a couple others into the garage where it will be cool, but not anywhere near freezing.  Because it will warm up again next week and probably stay above 32° for the rest of the month, I'm covering some flower beds and the herb bed with tarps.  We'll see if they survive with that little extra layer of insulation.

Took a different turn as I biked into the Los Poblanos Community Gardens.  Found myself on an old, old asphalt road that simply disappeared into a thicket of young Siberian elms just north of Montano.  Goes to show you that even solid-looking things like roads can vanish in a few years.
