Amber's actions
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 10-minute walk outside each day.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Food
Choose Organic Ingredients
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) cooked with organic ingredients each day.
Water
5-Minute Showers

Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Amber Enriquez 10/22/2019 10:13 AMI have eliminated straws, plastic bags, and bottled water, and now am working on coffee cups. This one has been the hardest for me because I am often on the road going through a drive thru to get coffee, so I need to be better about keeping a reusable cup in the car for those situations! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsIt is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?
Amber Enriquez 10/22/2019 10:10 AMI think most ideas around sustainability are initially rejected and claimed to be impossible. But over time by making small changes to our daily habits, what seems impossible can become a reality! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Amber Enriquez 10/18/2019 2:37 PMI walked around our corporate complex and enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful landscaping. Walking instead of driving allowed me to say hi to people as I passed by, and gave me a chance to soak up some sun and reflect on the day.
