REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How do we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Chloe Davis 10/02/2019 8:23 PMI don't quite agree with the idea of having moral obligations but I can understand that some people may feel that way when having a sense of gratitude. I think for everyone to have a better understanding, and to have more gratitude, you have to create a better society or environment that they live in. It's important not to mix up being confident with being ungrateful for what you have. Especially when some people are overconfident it makes them ungrateful for what they have. Then they question when they don't have or get something why when they should be able to accept what they have to be happy and content with their lives. -

Chloe Davis 10/02/2019 8:17 PMI am so grateful for water. I do not just mean it because I would die without it. I mean it because it has been around my entire life in so many ways. From drinking a glass of water to canoeing or going on a boat in the water or even from the very beginning, when I was younger, and I was learning how to swim.
I'm also grateful for air, not exactly just oxygen. The breeze that either cools me down or chills my bones I love it both ways. I like the idea of something that you can't see but exists. I'm grateful that theres concrete proof of it without having to see it.
I would like to say grass but grass is itchy so I'll go with dirt. The soil can provide so many different possibilities of use and comfort to everyone. I appreciate and am grateful for the land that I can live and grow up upon. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Chloe Davis 10/02/2019 8:09 PMI definitely think that just by spending a few more minutes alone outside can clear your head. Which may help those become more spiritually grounded or help people relax enough to learn and control their emotions. I think that a culture's environment that is indoors can create a sort of trapped feeling for its community. It leads others to be more closed off and also not appreciate what exists.
