Melinda's actions
Health
Know My health
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
High Impact Action Track
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Waste
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Melinda Davenport 10/23/2019 11:11 AMIt has been a good run. I find that I am more aware of choices that I make while shopping. Cutting down on waste and using reusable products even more has been another benefit. Thank you for providing this opportunity to participate. -
Melinda Davenport 10/08/2019 1:48 PMI have started using Stash bags too. So far just for storage. I have not cooked with them but looking forward to seeing how well they hold up. I plan on having some stashed with my grocery tote bags so I will have them available while shopping. We keep finding new products to help with Eco-Challenges.
