Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 5 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Dylan Cook 10/04/2019 6:29 PMPracticing gratitude keeps me in a positive and upbeat mood. It keeps me focused on to keep being a better person. By overall practicing gratitude you can influence other people to also practice gratitude and thus beginning a spread of gratitude. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Dylan Cook 10/04/2019 6:24 PMI would like to shift my sleep patterns by slowly falling asleep earlier which will encourage me to do more during the day so I can sleep more during the night, I'm finding that setting alarms that tell me to go to sleep works because once I hear that alarm my body knows that its time to go to bed and I just find that that helps me get to bed earlier. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Dylan Cook 10/03/2019 1:10 PMIt feels good not to use paper to the extent that I used to. Using my computer to take notes and just about everything else makes paper irrelevant in my daily life. For example, instead of printing paper, I take screenshots using my computer and take notes on the screenshot and then upload that to my teachers instead of a packet of paper. The step for me to reduce my waste is to suggest to my teachers to stop handing out paper instructions or homework and instead post them on a selected website for everyone else to access instead of handing many sheets of paper out to an entire class. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Dylan Cook 10/03/2019 1:00 PMThe way I could incorporate the other "R's" into my life style is to use less paper and overall school supplies by using my computer to take all of my notes and schedule my days. I have a reusable straw that my school sells that I use and refuse the use of the plastic straws here on campus.
