REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Anna Belardo 10/14/2019 10:46 AMCertain meats can be seen as higher status. The more meat consumed, the more CO2 released from cattle farming. Not everyone has to become vegetarian or vegan but reducing your personal meat consumption, starting with small weekly goals, can make a big difference in meat demand and with our happiness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Anna Belardo 10/14/2019 10:44 AMI am able to hear the crunching of leaves, the dropping of acorns, my footsteps, birds, and the wind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Anna Belardo 10/10/2019 6:34 AMMost of my actual trash is now food packaging which I try to avoid. My compost is doing very well and my critters love all the food! I use my compost to feed my tomato plants and flowers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHigh Impact Action Track Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

Louisa Lubiak 10/18/2019 5:48 AMHi Anna! I love your comment about making a vegetable broth from the vegetable scraps. It didn't occur to me to use the "throwaway" parts of the veggies for making broth! :-)

Anna Belardo 10/08/2019 6:20 AMThe NJ Climate Data is a great way to feel the individual impact of greenhouse gases since it is NJ specific. The whole theory of global climate change is daunting and an overwhelming thought. To narrow it down to our state, can make one feel that they can make a difference. Trying to change personal things to reduce the effects of climate change for the WORLD seems like an unreachable goal. But to help out your own state, now that is more feasible.
