I am doing well and enjoying this challenge!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I have started carrying reusable bags with me when I go grocery shopping.

I have bought reusable ones at the grocery store if I had forgotten my reusable ones.

But I would forget if I just stopped at places like CVS or other small stores.

I now carry extra disposable bags in my cars in case I need them.

My challenge has been going pretty good!

I picked challenges that I thought I needed to work on and others that interested me.

What would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?

Since I am old...I usually reflect on  memories of places I lived, relatives who have passed, etc.

I think I would like to reflect on doing more social activities, seeing places I enjoyed when I was younger like Disney World or Hawaii, spending more time with my family and grandchildren, etc.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Track my Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

I noticed that I spend a lot of money at restaurants and fast food places.  But I have a really hard time cooking for one!

I also do spend a lot if money at Amazon!!  My biggest shopping weakness!

Also, since I go to the movies almost every week, that is a regular expense that I noticed.

Changes I can make are to try to cut down on fast food purchases.  I do spend a lot of money on Amazon purchases but some thing are cheaper and quicker to receive using Amazon.  I just have to stop any spur of the moment purchases and that would decrease my spending.

My movie spending is my only social activity so won't   be changing that one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Switch to Cold Water
What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

Hmmm.  Well probably buy more stuff!!

No seriously, I would like to save more money or try some new products that are no waste and ecofriendly.

I seem to be finding more interesting products on line that I would be interested in trying so I can be even more ecofriendly than I already  am.

Partcipating in these challenges really makes you want to put yourself out there and contribute to cleaning up the environment and finding products that are available to buy which are cleaner, less waste, and a better environmental choice.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

I have always try to declutter every couple of months.  I am a fan of Goodwill and Purple Heart.

As I get older I have been trying to cut back on my purchases and live with much less stuff.  I only replace things now when they are broken or worn out.

Also before I rush out to buy things, I look around my house and garage to see if I might have some  things already that I have forgotten about.

I have also donating items that if I haven't used them in a year, especially appliances and clothes.

I feel it only takes a little foresight to avoid over buying things and also found that organizing my clothes with some tips from Marie Kondo helped me to see what clothes I have and get rid of things that didnt bring me joy... hahaha.   Funny but very true!

    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

I have used this method of being grateful for things in my life when I am really down.

Rather than focusing on the awful things happening in the world, I think about or find articles about people doing great things for others, animals, the environment, etc.

It really works to get you out of your funk and be more motivated to do things in your own life that can make a difference...no matter how big it small...it counts.
