Waste

Recycle Everything I Can

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

Last day of the ecochallenge and It has been eye opening. I did mine with a focus on recycling and can truly say that I am more aware of what I purchase and how it contributes to waste and recycling.

Gratitude is nice to practice because it helps you observe the world around you differently. Doing it daily so far is nice because you take time for yourself to reflect on your day. When I have done this, it has been like a happiness boost to meditate on my day, my actions, everyone else's actions, the weather, the environment, the people in my life, the world around me.

    Waste Recycle Everything I Can
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

I haven't been that great at recycling so even though it seems easy, I find myself asking "can I recycle this?" to practically everything I am about to purchase or am about to discard of. Luckily the city of Portland's website has a useful guide to garbage and recycling. Just saying, in case anyone needs a refresher on do's and do not's  :)
