  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

It doesn't surprise me because I know when i don't plan ahead, I contribute to that fact of creating waste. I'd rather use my money on food that I will consume.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

My 401k is now changed to socially responsible funds with impact investing. Feels great to not be handing money to the fossil fuel industry. Money unfortunately rules many things in this world and if we all stopped contributing to greedy corporations that are polluting our world then the companies would be out of business. It feels pretty awesome to make this change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

We all need to eat less meat. I am seriously considering becoming a vegetarian.

Humans rely on pollinators for food such as nuts and fruits. Most flowering plants rely on pollinators to regenerate.

Lost a pet yesterday, but so grateful for the one we still have, and for caring veterinarians. Grateful for coworker support as I scooted away to deal with pet trauma. Grateful for support from friends and family after a sudden goodbye.

Last day of the challenge.  My performance has been so-so.  I'm stayed very inconsistent on my daily challenges throughout.  But these topics have gotten much more share of mind than in a typical month, so counting that as a win.

The eco challenge is almost done! I am still working to get the rest of my household to "let it mellow" but am proud to keep the seat down and water in the tank.
