Unfortunately I have not been able to take my daily walk due to some physical limitations. But when I do walk regularly, I do find myself less stressed and more creative. Thoughts come to me more easily and I tend to be more tolerant of others.

Whenever I spend more time outdoors I feel more relaxed. Especially when just enjoying the natural sounds, scents and sights. Being more aware of your surroundings also continues into other activities for me letting me see the smaller joys of life.

Instead of using just the common part of home-grown vegetables, I try to use all parts - the greens from turnips and beets, the leaves from brussel sprout stalks and the blossoms from squash.

In the past I made spaghetti sauce from the tomatoes, peppers, onions and herbs from my garden. This year I'm trying pickles from the cucumbers and I also plan to make pesto with all the basil from my herb garden, and preserve it for Christmas presents. I'm also thinking about taking all the jalapenos from the garden and making poppers, then...

I personally have been receiving more items from my parents since they are passing things down as they get older. As I'm receiving this things, some are heirlooms, I am assessing what can be used and not just stored away. I also am trying not to purchase items that are not regularly used, but rather borrowing from neighbors and friends.

Many stadiums do not allow reusable water bottles, instead opting for selling a plastic bottle for $5+. I noticed that they also do not have water fountains anymore in case you do purchase a plastic bottle and would like to refill it. I suggested to a local stadium, where which I hold season tickets, that they should encourage reusable...

I recently read an article about de cluttering so I want to take action to find places for those things I want, re-purpose those things that I can and then discarding those things that I can re-purpose and/or do not want. Shopping on line has helped me to curb purchasing items I do not need. I no longer impulse shop when I am at Target and...

As a child I was a junior girl scout and went camping each summer in the Pocono mountains. It was because of those years, learning about the plants and animals native to the area, I developed a love for the outdoors...and a continuing quest to always look for "fairy houses" in any wooded area I may visit.

My love of gardening and cooking inspired me to work with the local food pantry and become part of the advisory board. Not only does the pantry hand out food, but provides other services requested by the patrons. We plan to do more gardening for a greater variety of fresh food, as well as teach the guests some simple, budget friendly meal...

My herb garden is in a windowsill pot that I keep outside in the summer months and brought inside during the winter months. It provides me with fresh herbs year round and I can always make pesto if my basil gets out of control :-)
