Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

AMD Shanghai site shared the cloth bag several years ago. I like to use it when i go to supermarket. Find a fashion bag (non-plastic bag), i would say you will like to use it.

keep using reusable water bottle. Actually, it is easy. i am getting used to it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

Straw could be disposed by directly drinking the orange juice. handkerchief could be used to reduce the tissue usage.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

One more and more popular way is to enable production of electricity from solar energy. it can provide the electricity for light, and hot water etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
High Impact Action Track Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    David Zhang's avatar
    David Zhang 10/22/2019 12:06 AM
I took the G-Train for the trip recently. Another way is to use video meeting to avoid the most of air travel.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
High Impact Action Track Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    David Zhang's avatar
    David Zhang 10/21/2019 2:58 AM
Actually, i planted 6 trees in north China through Alipay program this year.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

    David Zhang's avatar
    David Zhang 10/15/2019 12:04 AM
This should be encouraged company wide. And i believe 2-sided printing not only saves environment, but also make the people easy to carry if you need to print a lot.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    David Zhang's avatar
    David Zhang 10/14/2019 10:36 PM
The major barrier is that there is no tap water in public space. If every pubic place (like shop, gas station etc.) could provide tap water, i could always use reusable bottles.
