REFLECTION QUESTIONHigh Impact Action Track Research Impact InvestingHow might impact investing help you better live your values?
Mariah Williams 10/23/2019 7:36 AMImpact investing is intended to make positive impacts on the world. So if you find investments that you are interested in then it will make the impact that matches your personal values. I still would like to learn more about this but feel that it is a great thing that I was not aware of. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my HomeTo what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?
Mariah Williams 10/23/2019 7:32 AMI think environmental factors contribute a great deal to our health. Using house chemicals that are not good for the environment are probably also not good for your health. I have used house hold cleaning products that when I breathed it made me cough and that made me realize how potent it is. I realized these types of chemicals are not ones that I want to have in my house. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Mariah Williams 10/22/2019 6:10 AMI have found that even though my local recycling places may not accept certain things there still might be other places that are willing to take it. Some companies allow you to ship their used items back to them and then they will recycle them. I also have found that if you look up a certain item you may find other ways to get more use out of the item. For example: when I am done using a mascara brush I will clean it off and use it to scrub tough areas to clean in my house. It will help clean the ring around my sink drain. I also found that there was an animal refuge that will accept clean used mascara brushes to use for brushing small animals. There are always really great ideas out there just have to do some research. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Mariah Williams 10/10/2019 6:08 AMI hardly every buy new clothing. The clothing industry is the third largest industry contributing to the landfills and pollution. Often I buy clothing from thrift stores so I am not purchasing new items. I also try and resell or re-purpose any clothing items I want to get rid of instead of throwing them away. Recently a big group of my friends and I all got together with clothing we wanted to get rid of and we just did a swap. It was so much fun. It was a great way to get new clothing items and also have someone else get to now have your clothing and not have the clothing you no longer wear just be thrown away and contributed to more landfill waste.-

Mariah Williams 10/10/2019 5:58 AMIt is Thursday so I thought I would take a second to reflect a little. Usually my discipline during the week is much better than during the weekend. I am also going on a trip for the next week and traveling and trying to be environmentally aware can be difficult because you get caught up in the moment and having convenient things is the easier option. Therefor I am taking a moment now to hold myself accountable for the next week while I am gone to continue to keep up these good habit that I have created the last few weeks!! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Mariah Williams 10/08/2019 5:54 AMI think that a major part of having a sustainable water future would be to have more strict standards on water use. I also think that it would not just be a region thing it would have to be a nation wide effort.-
Kelsey Behm 10/09/2019 7:44 AMThe city of Ammon has gotten a lot of negative feedback for their strict water usage and new pricing for water, but we have to make big changes quickly to reduce our impact for the future. We lived in Texas and their cost of water is much higher and they have the same strict guidelines Ammon has been implementing, like only watering on certain days and not using the hose to spray out your garage or "wash" your driveway.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Mariah Williams 10/08/2019 5:49 AMI think the biggest barrier I had in the beginning was just having the habit of taking the water bottle wherever I went. So when I was traveling I wouldn't have it on me to fill up. Now it has just been a habit to take my reusable bottle with me wherever I go and not only is it better for the environment but it saves me money because I don't have to pay for the bottled water. -
Mariah Williams 10/03/2019 8:37 AMI feel like this challenge is going to be fantastic. I love to look at all the possible actions and really think about them because it helps me reflect on all the day to day things I do that really affect our plant. I try hard to think about how I can change things and how I can be more conscious of the resources I use.
