REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:25 AMIt's always hard to remember to bring a reusable mug or keep them CLEAN, but I need to prioritize this as a main goal. If I can remember to get a drink every morning, I can remember what I put it in! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:24 AMI have started wearing blue light glasses and reducing my screen time--my sleep hygiene has improved significantly! I am also reading more, which I really enjoy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:23 AMI feel better when I don't spend a lot of time on social media. I find myself mindlessly heading to social media websites when I am bored--not because I actually want to be on the sites. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:22 AMVolunteering for Portland Public Schools is incredibly rewarding--my contributions to the 3rd grade class at Richmond Elementary School feel significant and worthwhile! -
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:20 AMI went on a very long walk with my dog, Rory, this morning. It was so nice to be outside with her and enjoy the fresh, cool air! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:19 AMI love to walk with my dog, Rory. She is so energized by the environment--wind, smells, dirt, etc. and it inspires me to walk further/be more active when she gets SO excited to go outside. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Emily Volpert 10/04/2019 10:17 AMI need reminders of what I should already be grateful for! It's helpful to me to try to be IN THE NOW. :)
