The planet is not getting any younger.  Fossil fuels will deplete in time.  If the change to sustainable energy is not within your current plans, then write out a survival plan without any electrical needs for energy either will be very expensive or not existant in the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

    Use energy efficient washing machines.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

Collect rainwater for toilets and watering the garden.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

    Raymond Velez 10/08/2019 3:08 PM
Local recycling services are somewhat limited.... not all recycle all materials (e.g. oil, electronics).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

    Raymond Velez's avatar
    Raymond Velez 10/08/2019 3:07 PM
Simplicity requires "thinking-out-of-the-box" to reinvent oneself into letting go of the traditional way of doing things.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Raymond Velez's avatar
    Raymond Velez 10/08/2019 3:05 PM
Invest in companies that believe in a green approach.  Reduce investments in those that have no care for carbon reduction efforts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    Raymond Velez's avatar
    Raymond Velez 10/08/2019 3:05 PM
Mentally:  Gives you peace of mind that you are supporting nature
Physically:  How's this for exercise:  Go dig a hole with a pick-and-shovel during a sunny Puerto Rico afternoon (1pm). Multiply by 5 (meaning 5 trees that were planted).
Spiritually:  You'll be raising your hands and voice to the heavens that someone bring you water after planting the 1 st tree.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Raymond Velez 10/08/2019 2:41 PM
Use mulitplugs for appliances that need not be on all the time (i.e. microwave, TV, Sound System).  Turn off when not in use... will make huge difference in electric bill and power consumption on the long run.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
