ANAND's actions
Simplicity
Research My Investment Portfolio
I will find out what stocks and bonds are in my investment account portfolio to determine if they align with my values (e.g. environmental, social responsibility, community).
Create Your Own Action
To completely stop single use of plastic.
I have been THINKING about it from very long time and after IPCC report, different climate change conferences and our own prime minister requesting the country men to stop single use of plastic. I believe this is something very basic we can do and it can start with immediate effect from our home. We can always use jute carry bags which can be used multiple times. I will bring this concern to my family members and also make people aware about it. I chose this because this is something very easy yet important step i can make to contribute to the ENVIRONMENT and reduce my carbon FOOTPRINT.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow might impact investing help you better live your values?
ANAND TIWARI 10/22/2019 10:33 AMI always think that keeping environment safe and livable is a shared responsibility of each one of us. Apart from personal effort of keeping our society clean, saving water and judiciously using electricity, I try to influence others at least in my family and closed one's to follow the same. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityIn what ways can you increase the positive impacts and decrease the negative impacts of your financial investments?
ANAND TIWARI 10/22/2019 7:58 AMFinancial investment is all about return or its long term value. Positive impacts can be increased by doing some homework where the money is going to be invested. Prior research work and taking advice from the experts always give fruitful results. Bad investment always gives learning. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 7:49 AMThere is no doubt that modern food system cannot feed masses. Firstly not everyone can afford it, secondly there are geographical constraints. So home grown food with scientific methods can feed more and more people and and surplus food can be exported to countries in need. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIt is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 6:25 AMWith exponential growing population. It is very difficult to produce organic food for everyone. Organic food is expensive and limited to few geographical area. To overcome this issue, new scientific methods needs to adopted to feed the masses. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 6:22 AMLocally grown is always cheaper and fresh. One can connect the local farmers on a community basis and help farmers in providing cheap seeds, affordable fertilizers and government supplied irrigation system. For a small family terrace farming is also a good idea. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this idea?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 6:19 AMIt is always advised to be proactive in food selection. Having nutritious food and regular is always recommended. This way one can avoid visiting doctor. Proactive medical check up is very important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat efforts would help food insecure regions have access to local, seasonal foods?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 6:17 AMFood insecurity is a global issue, It can be improved by balancing the trade between countries. Scientific techniques needs to be implemented in countries of lower GDP to grow food in own soil. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
ANAND TIWARI 10/15/2019 6:13 AMPeople in richer countries can easily afford non veg food. It also depends on the geography of the country. Having a balance diet is always recommended. Eating more meat causes health issues in longer run and also affects the food chain in ecology. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat environmental factors affect human health in your region, and how do they affect it?
ANAND TIWARI 10/14/2019 6:27 AMWeather pattern has changed a lot in recent times. Ground water depletion, increase in temperature, scorching heat in the morning itself. It been deteriorating from the current level. -

ANAND TIWARI 10/14/2019 6:17 AMWe have received a beautiful environment from ancestors and now its been damaged to the unrepair condition. It going to take a strong will to make it better for our children and coming generations.
