After throwing the homecoming dance for the school at a location other than campus, I was disappointed to see that the university campus hosting the dance did not offer plastic recycling.  I spoke with the catering manager and was inform that the particular plastic used was not recyclable in our area anymore.   After the discussion, I suggested moving to paper cups or reusable cups for future events.  I was disappointed in this and feel that we left a large carbon footprint this weekend because of the dance.

I was able to recycle all of the decorations and paper used.

You are all doing so well!  Keep up the work -- keep focusing on the environment.

One of you brought a non-reusable water bottle to class today -- this is something that we have all discussed.  You MUST have a reusable bottle!  It is a SIMPLE way to be aware of your actions and their impact on the environment!

Today in class, we discussed the program and how it can change your thinking from "I am only one person" to "I can influence many."  Together, we can promote simplicity and sustainability, be examples and start small to have a big impact!

I can see other members of my community when I choose to walk.   I see others helping one another, I see others enjoying the world around them.
