Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.

Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.

Visit a Waste Management Facility
I will spend at least 1 minutes visiting a local dump/transfer station, material recovery facility, and/or landfill to learn about the waste stream.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 1 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.

I will organize one of Ecochallenge.org's discussion courses on food sustainability - 'Menu for the Future' or 'Hungry for Change', with my family, friends, coworkers, or classmates.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:57 AMNowadays I have learned not to print my correspondence, I only read them and then I keep them in my electrical file -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteField trip! What a fun way to learn about our impact and consumption! What facility did you visit? What did you learn? Did you take anyone with you?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:55 AMThat should be created and oriented more than things can already be recycled and create habits in people -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:53 AMWell, first of all, instead of buying so many bottles of water, I buy a filter and always fill my reusable bottle -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:52 AMThe advantage that exists by having a reusable cup and glass, we are contributing to the planet -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:50 AMCurrently I have raised awareness about the matter, having a case at the moment I take them in the shopping cart and deposit it in my car -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

Kasandra Serrano 10/21/2019 11:47 AMall of the above, the important thing is to start sowing to reforest our forests and places where you live
