Ecochallenge is great, it's a spring board to making more eco-friendly decisions. It's a lifestyle changer if you just stick with it even after the challenge is over.

    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?

Fixing leaky faucets is a double whammy. You not only save tons of unused water and bring down your bill but you get rid of that annoying drip... drip... drip...

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

So it turns out that where I live, there is no recycling program. There was at one point but the cost to maintain the program was too high. You can separate recyclables out but they all end up in the landfill. This warrants more research. Uncommon items can often be upcycled by posting them on freecycle.org, facebook, or craigslist.

Some things are tougher like eliminating refined sugars though but overall, my challenge is going well!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

Residential cleaning products that we use all the time have harmful chemicals in them. There are alternatives that are better, some cheaper like cleaning glass with vinegar and some more expensive options like environmentally friendly and safe cleaners. Most of the common cleaners have chemicals that irritate the skin or even cause cancer or worse. Swapping out one cleaner at a time (to a safe, non-toxic one) once it runs out, makes it more manageable.
