Bex! S 10/23/2019 10:45 AMLast day of the challenge. My performance has been so-so. I'm stayed very inconsistent on my daily challenges throughout. But these topics have gotten much more share of mind than in a typical month, so counting that as a win. -
Bex! S 10/22/2019 1:26 PMI'm counting going to yoga as my minutes of meditation today. It's the first time in a long time and it's a similar practice of slowing down and taking a break. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Bex! S 10/18/2019 8:47 AMThe costs of producing and eating meat are high - monetary, environmental, health. Plus we seem to have found ourselves in a cultural environment where protein is king and animal products are accepted as the best and biggest sources of protein. How strange.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Choose a Carbon OffsetA round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?
Bex! S 10/18/2019 8:42 AMThis is a tough one. I like to travel to far off distant places. More vacation time or remote work options so that I could stay longer and amortize the CO2 emissions of those plane flights over more time? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Collect Rain WaterTrace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?
Bex! S 10/18/2019 8:41 AMFrom watching storm runoff when we get downpours, I know it starts by running west down the slope of Mt Tabor. And from there it must go on to the river. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Bex! S 10/18/2019 8:41 AMIt's difficult because we put our rubbish in a bin at the curb and it disappears. "Out of sight, out of mind." -
Bex! S 10/17/2019 8:55 AMToday is the day for 5 minutes of silent reflection. (Where's the button for setting intentions?) -
Bex! S 10/16/2019 10:54 AMWhile I'm largely not achieving my 5 minutes of daily meditation goal, having set that goal is providing the opportunity for reflection this month on the challenges of pushing pause even for 5 short minutes and on whether that's actually a problem or whether activities such a riding my bike, reading a book, etc. provide the balance I need. -
Bex! S 10/15/2019 10:31 AMNew insight - I can extra mileage out of 1 planned vegetarian meal because I frequently use incorporate dinner leftovers into later lunches, dinners, or even breakfasts.
